Jax is a family-run vineyard located near Mount St. Helena in Northern Calistoga in California

The vineyard was purchased by David Jackson in 1990 and his children Kimberly and Trent Jackson released their first vintage in 1996. The winery’s mission is to produce a small lot, terroir driven wines with minimal intervention.

Shortly after their first production, the Jackson siblings recruited the respected winemaker Kirk Venge to create balanced wines reflecting varietal character and a sense of place.

The vineyard features volcanic alluvial soil due to its proximity to Mount St. Helena in California. The volcanic soil is what creates an ideal environment for root water absorption. Equally important are the extreme diurnal temperature variations - intense heat during the day contrasted by chilly evenings. The daytime heat gives deep colour and complexity to the fruit, while the cooler evenings help maintain acidity and structure.
